Discuss your background prior to starting at ERAU.
I graduated with my undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL and went on to pursue my Master of Education in Higher Education & Student Affairs at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. As a graduate student, I served as a Hall Director and also completed a practicum experience at USC’s Career Services office. After graduating, I served as a Residence Life Coordinator at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL for multiple years. I oversaw several residence halls and supervised Resident Advisors. I knew my passion was in career services and was offered a Program Manager position at ERAU’s Career Services office in 2010.
What is your current role within ERAU’s Career Services?
In my current role as Director, I oversee employer relations, marketing, budget, our blog, and front desk operations. I also have the privilege of teaching one section of University 101 every fall semester. Finally, I also serve as Secretary for the Florida Association of College & Employers which is a great volunteer opportunity to work with various other career services departments from around the state and numerous employers.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of the job is working and learning from the incredible ERAU students. My appreciation of aviation and aerospace and blossomed throughout my time at ERAU and it is due to the talented students I get to work with and teach. Lastly, I have amazing co-workers that I get to grow and learn from on a daily basis.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
My dream vacation would be to visit Australia and New Zealand. I love the accents and beautiful landscapes! I would love to see the Sydney Opera House, hold a koala, hug a kangaroo, and visit the set of the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit.
What was your best vacation and why?
I have been lucky to travel to some great places in my life, but my best vacation was in 2017 when I went on my honeymoon with my husband, Scott. We traveled to Barcelona, Spain and then boarded a Mediterranean cruise with stops in Cannes, France, Rome, Italy, Amalfi Coast, Italy, Catania, Sicily, and Venice, Italy. We also flew to London, England for a few days after the cruise. It was amazing trip and would love to go back to Europe again.
What is your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is Dirty Dancing. I love the concept of a girl falling in love on vacation, all the dancing, and of course the movie soundtrack.
