CareerShift is a supplemental resource available for free to ERAU students and alumni, to help search for currently posted positions, and contacts at various companies. It can be accessed through Handshake, under the Career Center option, then select Resources and then CareerShift.
There are many features to CareerShift that users will find helpful. Two of the commonly used are the Job search and Contact search options.
Job Search – Find currently posted internship, full-time, part-time, and temporary jobs by searching by:
- Job titles
- Company name
- Geographic area, in the US and many countries outside of the US
- Experience level
- Remote/virtual (new)
- H1-B applications (new)
Searches can be saved and the system will send reminder emails about opportunities found in those saved searches, as long as the email alert box is selected.
Contact Search – This feature allows the user to search for contacts by company name, contact name, or to find someone by position title. This is a useful feature when searching for an Interviewer’s email address to follow up with them, or to reach out to them about opportunities at a specific company.
Note: There is not a guarantee that the email address or phone number is available for everybody at a company, but it is a good place to check when searching for a contact.
CareerShift and Handshake are different systems that can be used as complements to each other. The systems are similar in that they are both career search tools. CareerShift is a job aggregator, so it searches for positions based on the search criteria it was given. A user will not apply to a position through CareerShift, but rather is taken to the company website or job board to see the position and then apply.
Handshake is the career management system used by ERAU Career Services Office to connect with students, alumni, and company representatives that post career and internship positions in Handshake. Students and alumni can apply to jobs and internships posted in Handshake, either directly to the job posting in Handshake, to the company website, or according to instructions specific to a company.
